There is no noise when the dry-type transformer is running, which is normal. Sometimes there are some noise, which indicates that it can be judged via the sound whether the transformer is faulty. Actually, it can be judged via the sound of the dry-type transformer whether any damage occurs to it. Generally speaking, if there are several problems with the sound of the dry-type transformer, it indicates that it has broken down and must be repaired. When there are such problems with the sound of the working dry-type transformer, it usually indicates that your dry-type transformer has broken down. Here are some details below:
The dry-type transformer is noisy. If the sound of the transformer is higher than that in the normal condition and there are obvious noise, but there is no obvious abnormality in current and voltage, the problem may be caused by the increase in the vibration of the silicon steel sheet attributable to the looseness of the internal clamp or screws that compress the iron core.
The discharge sound occurs to the dry-type transformer If partial discharge occurs inside or on the surface of the transformer, there will be a “crackling” discharge sound. In this case, if blue corona or sparks can be seen nearby the transformer bushing at night or in rainy weather, it indicates that the porcelain parts are severely polluted or poor contact occurs to the cable clamp of the equipment; If discharge occurs inside the transformer, it is caused by static discharge of ungrounded discharge components or poor contact of the tap changer, the transformer should be further tested or shut down.
Water boiling sound occurs to the dry-type transformer. If the sound of the transformer is mixed with the water boiling sound, its temperature changes rapidly, and the oil level rises, it should be judged as a short circuit fault in the transformer winding or serious overheating caused by poor contact of the tap changer. In such a case, the transformer should be shut down immediately for inspection.
There is crackling from the dry-type transformer. If there is uneven crackling mixed with the sound of the transformer, it is judged as insulation breakdown inside or on the surface of the transformer. In such a case, the transformer should be immediately shut down for inspection.
The above-mentioned sound problems are details that cannot be neglected. Such problems should be handled seriously. Otherwise, the service effect of the dry-type transformer will become not good, and its service life may be shortened!
